One Young World (OYW) Summit is an annual event which gathers together the brightest young people from around the world, empowering them to make lasting connections and develop solutions to some of the world’s most pressing issues. In this Summit, most valuable young talent from global and national companies, NGO’s, Universities and other forward-thinking organizations are joined by World leaders, acting as the One Young World counselors, to create positive change. Most of these OYW Counselors are; Kofi Annan (former UN Sec. Gen.), Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu, Sir Richard Branson (CEO, Virgin Group), Anthony Jenkins (CEO, Barclays), Paul Polman (CEO, Unilever), Jack Dorsey and Arianna Huffington; Bob Geldof, etc.
OYW is a non-profit organization based in UK, established in 2009 by David Jones, Kate Robertson and Havas, the Corporate Partner.
Many organizations have partnered with One Young World to sponsor delegates from around the world to attend the Summit and this has become an integral part of their Leadership Development, Human Resource and Sustainability Programmes. Among these are, Google, All Bar None, Unilever, Sasol, Barclays, Deloitte, Ericsson, MTN, KPMG, Pepsi, Hp, CocaCola, IBM, Insead, Standard Bank. Nokia, Standard Chartered, Siemens, Facebook, OFID, etc.
How to Become One Young Ambassador
- You must be between 18 and 30 years.
- Have a demonstrated leadership ability and commitment to effecting positive change.
- Have had an impact in your home countries on a range of issues, including the role of business in society, transparency in business and government, the impact of climate change, global health and hunger relief.
If you think you meet the requirements, apply to attend the this year Summit by creating a candidate profile. If your profile is approved it will be displayed on the OYW website and you can seek the necessary funding to attend the Summit. At the Summit Closing Ceremony, delegates graduate as One Young World Ambassadors, joining a network of young leaders who are creating positive change around the world.
