The Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM) is saddled with the responsibility of promoting and sustaining entrepreneurship among African youths through training, skill development and funding. RUFORUM believes in youth entrepreneurship as the game changer in ensuring greater youth participation and integration into the economic growth at national and regional levels and for youth employment.
In view of that, RUFORUM put up a program called RUYAEC (i.e. RUFORUM Young African Entrepreneurs Competition) to allow young people aged 16-34 years with established business enterprise and/or creative and innovative business ideas to compete for grant funding.
Main Purpose of RUYAEC
- Provide young entrepreneurs with opportunity to show-case their businesses and share their development as an inspiration to many young African potential entrepreneurs
- Bring collective action towards provision of seed funding to young entrepreneurs through a transparent and competitive process.
- Provide a platform for young entrepreneurs to demonstrate their impact and pitch their business with investors and stakeholders through capacity building opportunity.
- Create a network of young entrepreneurs across Africa working together and sharing experiences that escalate youth contribution and job creation in Africa.
RUFORUM is looking for 20 Young African Entrepreneurs to compete for the following award categories;
- 1st prize US$ 5,000
- 2nd prize US$ 4,000
- 3rd prize US$ 3,000
- 4th – 20th prize US$ 2,000.
Moreover, all winners will be sponsored to participate in the Biennial Conference. The award will consider the following business categories; Agribusiness, Incubations, Business enterprises, ICTs, Health, Engineering, Natural resources, Meteorology among other areas.
