Honey-bees (Apis Mellifera) are economic insects which produce honey in a conducive environment where there are pollens, nectars, drinking water and bee-hive to house them.
Farmers in Kenya have started concentrating on stingless bees (meliponines) which have better production. A single stingless bee can give 10 litres of honey every 3 – 4 months. On feeding especially when it is dry and there are no flowers, it is important to place syrup in the ratio of 1:1 because they need to feed affirmed Wambago, a Kenyan Female Farmer.
